About Sarah

Although I only started taking on Virtual Assistant clients in 2016, my experience that has readied me for the job is vast and varied. In fact, it feels like I have been training for this role for my entire life.

My dad worked in IT and so growing up, I was often found on his lap (and later on my own) tapping away at our computer's keyboard from the age of two. I grew up online - you could call me a "digital native" - so learning new softwares and digital processes comes intuitively for me.

I had blogs and websites from a young age. Angelfire, Geocities, Livejournal ...I did them all, in all their angsty, oversharing glory.

Once I graduated university, the work experience I collected gave me in-depth experience overseeing business operations, creating effective social media strategies, content marketing, and creating effective systems and processes.

I was the editor-in-chief of an independent women's magazine in Toronto where I oversaw all operations, managed their social media accounts, laid out the print magazine, updated the website, created images for articles, and managed all day-to-day tasks (we had a very small team, whom I oversaw). At a community charity in the UK I managed all of the social media and communications. During my tenure their I helped to grow one of their social accounts from 1,500 to over 10,000.

I"ve also done all this and more for my own online presences. I've been writing my blog since 2013 and in 2015 I launched a podcast called The Girl Gang Conversations, which quickly found its way to New & Noteworthy and often likes to hang out in the "What's Hot" section on iTunes. It was over these past few years that I became obsessed with online marketing, learning everything I could about content upgrades, opt-ins, sales funnels, launch sequences, and conversion rates. All of that nerdy, techy stuff really gets me excited!

I work with my clients to create systems and processes, manage the day-to-day workings of their businesses, organise the logistics of events, grow their social media followings, create or schedule their content marketing collateral, and so much more so that they can get on with doing the work they're here to do.

You can check out my services page to find out more about what I can offer you but I understand that every client's needs are unique, so I'd love to chat with you about exactly what you're looking for and how I can help your business run more effortlessly.

I think it's important that you find the Virtual Assistant who's the perfect fit for you and your business. If you have an inkling that that might be me, let's set up a time to talk and find out how we get on.

So that you can get a better sense of who I am as a person, let me tell you a bit more about me...

I'm Canadian expat who moved to the UK on a whim and stayed for love. In 2017 my husband and I moved from London to Liverpool where we now live in a Victorian terraced house with our baby son Peter and cat Hagrid.

In addition to my freelance work as a Virtual Assistant, I'm also a passionate storyteller. I think that honesty and connection are so important and I hope that my creative work will inspire some "me too!" moments and help  feel less alone. You can find my personal essays and podcast episodes at SarahStarrs.com and my musings on life as a witchy mama on OfTheMoon.co.uk.

I love exploring the city, wandering through markets, travelling, taking photographs, reading, cooking, baking, chocolate (it's an important part of my spiritual practice!), documenting our lives in my scrapbook, writing (I'm always scribbling something!) and curling up on the couch for a cosy night in.

I believe that everyone has an important story to tell and I hope that through whatever services I provide for my clients, I help them to tell theirs a little more clearly and easily.
