You've probably heard of inner child work, but what about menarche work?

The word "menarche" refers to our first period and we can think of our menarche self as who we were in those months directly proceeding and following that first bleed.

In child development terms, this generally correlates to the time when we are entering the "third plane of development.” We are gaining independence and strengthening our sense of who we are in relation to other people. Much like toddlerhood, this is an incredibly foundational time in the formation of our identity.

Our experience of menarche sets the tone for our bleeding years. Unfortunately our culture no longer has common rituals to initiate a menstruating person into the wisdom of their cycle. Instead this experience is often cloaked in confusion and shame that we carry with us. Even if our experience isn’t overtly negative, society still disseminates messages that our bodies are dirty, embarrassing, and that our periods are simply inconveniences to grit our teeth and get through.

This strips away much of the personal power and creative force that is inherent to the menstrual cycle. And the negative messaging we experience can impact deeply on our developing sense of self.

Looking back on our menarche selves, many people see that at this young age they were more freely and fully themselves. Sadly, it is also the time when many of us begin abandoning essential parts of ourselves in order to fit in.

By connecting with our menarche self, recognizing her wisdom, and offering her our love, we can:

  • begin to heal the menarche wound

  • create a new relationship with menstruation

  • reclaim our power

  • feel more integrated and whole

The Menarche Initiation

This is a self-paced, online course where you will learn about the importance of menarche and the impact it continues to have on your sense of self and your parenting today. I will guide you to reconnect with your menarche self. We will work on listening to her wisdom, offering her our love, and beginning to reclaim the parts of her we abandoned before we knew better. You will create a unique-to-you ritual for integrating this work so that you can feel more whole and fully yourself.
